UNTIL DECEMBER 2014 IT WAS ONE OF 27 REGIONAL PROVIDERS CONTRACTED BY THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH TO DELIVER THE LIKE MINDS NATIONAL PROGRAMME."
1. To promote mental health:
Via advertising, promotions, presentations and projects to promote positive mental health thinking and activities such as;
- Mental Health Awareness Week
- 'Korero Mai' - a Newsletter for those providing services for people with experience in mental illness
- Employment Guidebook - A guide for jobseekers with health issues
- 'Whakaaro Pai' - 'Thinking Positively' Newsletter by Service Users for Service Users
- 'What's On' - Newsletters promoting freely available educational and recreational activities - written by people on limited incomes for people on limited incomes
- Positive Ageing - Taupaenui - A Newsletter for those interested in improving the quality of life for older persons in Taranaki.
- Taking a co-coordinating and leadership role in the mental health sector
2. To 'de-mystify' mental illness:
Via advertising, articles and presentations to relevant organisations such as;
- Articles in Newspapers
- Presentations to various groups and organisations
- Peer Support Groups in New Plymouth
3. To Counter Stigma and Discrimination whenever and wherever it occurs:
Via presentations, articles and promotions such as;
- Mental Health Awareness Week
- Employment Guidebook
- Presentations to groups and organisations
4. A range of specific projects that cover all the above such as;
- Employment Guidebook
- Mental Health Awareness Week
- Newsletters and newsletter articles in other newsletters
- Stress in Rural Communities Projects
- Taranaki Mental Health Sector Directory
